My full 2 cents on the boundary discourse we do every month
This is directly copied from my twitter, you're mental if you think I'm gonna rewrite this entire thing it was a long ass thread.
Buckle up this is a long thread going over my thoughts in detail on the overall boundaries discourse we do every month I think most discourse surrounding fandoms and content creators in the MCYT sphere would be solved by both sides treating the other side as humans.
If fans stopped treating content creators as internet machines that make funny character to play with, and creators stopped treating fans as strange numbers that make video popular then both sides would benefit heavily and be able to actually have proper discussions about this.
To be honest, this is mostly an issue of fans not seeing the content creators they watch as entirely real people. There's enough separation online to sort of NPC-ify content creators but not enough separation to stop them from then interacting with the CCs with this mindset.
A creator should make their content and characters to appeal to the audience, but if they do it wrong the audience is allowed to complain, but the creator must never complain about anything the audience does or request anything of them, and they must not be attached to their own characters, stories or ocs. They must not do anything to make it seem like they are real people. When they do, they are told to get over it, that they signed up for it, that they are not allowed to express these things and they are attacked en masse by strangers.
A creator still has a great deal of responsibility to their fanbase to not condone harassment and to be careful they dont do anything to condone, encourage or make light of the idea of sending their fans or friends to harass people, respecting each other goes both ways.
A lot of people do not like the idea of it going both ways. People will say they keep their content entirely out of a creator's spaces, but when a creator says something they dislike, they intentionally maintag and go out of their way to make the creator see how much you're going to continue to do it, and tagging those rants so that they see, you are being the aggressor in that situation, and you are probably going to be removed from those spaces. If you post content a creator is uncomfortable with, you are probably going to be removed from their spaces. Content creators should be careful with their platforms and never promote or condone sending harassment to anybody, but if they have to follow that rule then you also shouldnt promote or condone sending harassment to anybody. If one side doesnt follow that rule, then the other side has no reason to either.
Respect is a two way street and if you want to be respected you have to respect others in turn. Most minecraft streamers are just regular every day people who hit a button to go live with their friends in a controlled environment so I think it's silly to assume they should all only ever act a certain way. Pyro has said to not harass people and his admin has clarified what he said wasnt serious, I think it still shouldnt have been said because it sets a dangerous standard for people having an "excuse" to harass people (which has already been happening especially to the majorscythe shippers) but if he and his team say that thats not what he meant then I'm inclined to believe thats not what he meant.
TLDR Fans and creators are all real people, respect others if you want to be respected, treat others how you want to be treated, people are allowed to not want you to do things and you're allowed to not care but dont be surprised when they react accordingly. Also dont harass ppl!
Will add anything else if I think of it but yeah, give people a bit of grace, the stream was also clearly a pretty quick not thoroughly thought through thing so if you want better clarification on some things and you want it done well, that also takes time
ONE MORE THING! People have been irritated at Pyro for saying he doesnt want people to do it in a space he wont see, Why would you ask someone if you can go against their wishes? You surely will know the answer is no? That theyre gonna say no, they dont want that.
If you are going to do something someone doesnt want and isnt comfortable with then do it in your own private space and keep it away from them instead of going and asking them "can I do this thing you asked me not to do if you dont see?" the answer will be "i dont want that". I think a DNI tag would be greatly beneficial just for every creator to have, but the idea of asking someone if you can do something they asked you not to do is silly, of course they're going to say they dont want you to do that.

Feel free to give your own thoughts or disagree, I'm also just a guy on the internet and my word is not law. This is just my pov as someone who's also been in creator circles in other fandoms, is friends with those people from other fandoms who were considered popular creators and also recieved gacha video fanart of myself, my ex and an ex friend as a nuclear family.
