One of my favorite differences between pokemon and digimon (i think both are great) is the evolutions. I don't meant the typical "digimon straps guns to a rabbit and calls it a day" although that is funny. I mean just how hilariously different it is in tone.

Pokemon: my lizard turned into. A slightly bigger lizard

Digimon: my hamster turned into Dio Brando
