Heliosboamon em Digimon Beatbreak
💫 He’s kind of pathetic in Time Stranger, can’t even carry two people, but I’m glad they’re adding more 02 armor evolutions, now they gotta add the rest of the armor evos
I am 10 hours into Digimon Time Stranger. I'm at the base of the Central Town tower.
And, uh
It's
The game is, ah
Uh
It's much better than Cyber Sleuth, I will say. The presentation is pretty good for an anime RPG, and the gameplay has seen several improvements over its predecessor. Getting rid of random encounters has made the pacing a lot more bearable. Plus, I love the dedicated "KILL" button to start a fight.
Not to mention, the dungeon design no longer gives me a migraine. I will take a million dark sewer tunnels over Kowloon.
I really hated Kowloon.
But I think I've made a major mistake starting this game immediately after finishing Persona 3 Reload. Or, hell, I think I made a major, MAJOR mistake having my last Digimon game before this one being Survive. I should've played Hacker's Memory to whet my appetite and set my expectations.
The story and characters are not at all grabbing me. The visuals and gameplay have seen a massive improvement, but imo, the quality of narrative is the exact same as it was in Cyber Sleuth, and the more polished presentation
Agent MC is your typical silent protagonist that doesn't have as much personality as the game pretends they do.
Inori is the girl character.
Aegiomon is alright, but his so far his story is just his bond with Inori and doesn't have much going on otherwise.
Minervamon had the worst English dub performance I ever heard in my entire life. She sounded like Peppermint Patty from an obscure D-tier Peanuts special.
I switched audio to Japanese, and the subtitles are not the easiest to make out.
I'm still going to try sticking it out until the end. There really is a lot to love about Time Stranger, but at the same time I am feeling let down.
Still... Cyber Sleuth picked up after, ah... chapter 8.
Just gotta play the waiting game, I suppose...
Reppamon, Gaomon, Youkomon, Kyukimon, Black Garurumon and Garurumon in Digimon New Century
Time Stranger has given me an appreciation for ZubaEagermon and Grademon. Up there with some of my other favorite Digimon now
Spoilers for Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
So! Two days ago I beat the main story, defeated Chronomon on Hard difficulty!
It took fifty hours over several days, but I did it.
Loved the game. The story was… good in some places and “interesting” concept wise in others. It has some flaws—but, what game involving time travel doesn’t? I loved the fighting system. I loved the fact I could actually ride my Digimon.
Here’s my team going into Chronomon—oh my god did that fight take me so long.
From my cute Gomamon partner to the tough Plesiomon. Tarza my Black Gabumon who stayed in the box for a third of the story then found its way onto my team. Sea Gold, my first fusion of Nemo (Kudamon) and Pyrite (Armadillomon) who’s really overpowered when it comes to God Flame.
Dracaris—I always end up with a Seadramon variant on my team no matter what Digimon game I play. Digimon World Dawn, chose the Coronamon-Growlmon-MegaSeadramon. Digimon World DS, converted Poyomon into a Betamon into Seadramon. Cyber Sleuth Seadramon from either Syakomon or Otamamon. Hackers Memory chose Betamon, rinse and repeat across multiple games!
Daspro—originally going to be Desparo (Despair-oh), but I didn’t know the misspelling on the Goblimon until well into the game. He was the first rookie Digimon I converted and I liked the amalgam looking digimon. Goblimon-Deltamon-Orochimon until I get the surprise of turning into Bachussmon.
And finally Scarab… a random Tentomon I popped onto the team to roundout my two sets of Vaccine-Virus-Data in case the main team fell. He turned out to come in clutch early on with many enemies having a surprising weakness to electric attacks.
Is any of my team Optimized? Absolutely not!
Do I love each and every one of them? Yup!
Did I purposefully not fuse Tarza with the Black Agumon I have and avoid Omnimon Zwart? Yes.
.
.
.
Yes, I name all of my Digimon. Now—if you’ll excuse me—I have to go complete the post story missions.
Edit: Oh my god. Fighting the alternate world Olympus Twelve was so hard! Dianamon, Apollomon and then GraveNovamon fainted my mons. Then Venusmon kept healing Junomon. Neptunemon hits like a truck. And Jupitermon’s second mode kept singehandedly killing my team—Aegiomon (Aegiochulusmon) kept getting KO’d then I revived him so I had an extra turn of items.
But I beat them! On my first try! On hard mode…
Been playing Digimon time stranger like 90% blind and it’s been awesome
