This Digital Media Devices give to us some advantages, like this : 1. The Ultimate DVR! So far, I love it! I have been a Tivo user since their first box. Before buying the Roamio Pro I was using three Premier Elite boxes and one Tivo Stream in my home. I'm so glad I decided to upgrade one of my boxes to the Roamio Pro. Here are a few reasons why... - Much better and faster interface. On my Elite I set it to use the older menu style because the new one was slow. That is not he case on Roamio, it's new, easy, nice, and FAST! - Downloads programs much faster to iPad/iPhone for later off line viewing (plane, etc.) than they did when I used TiVo Stream before. TiVo Stream is not needed with Roamio Pro. I can even download or stream from my non-Roamio Tivos without the Stream hooked up, since it just routes it all through the one Roamio, so I can get rid of my TiVo Stream completely. - The remote is now RF! - The Netflix interface is nice, and fast. Better than Apple TV, which is how I use to watch Netflix. I'll now... 2. Best DVR -- super fast, huge recording capability. No screensaver. Huge step-up from Motorola 160GB digital HDTV dvr. Only criticism, there is no screensaver. When you pause a recorded program, the image just sits there unchanged (for hours). As I have a plasma, a huge risk of burn in as life intrudes and you pause a program only to come back to the TV hours later and are shocked to see the static image (and pray that it hasn't burned in). Not an issue with the built-in Pandora app (which has a screensaver that floats album artwork around the screen). The Motrorola DVR had a screensaver that worked even when you paused a recorded program. Please add a screensaver that floats a thumbnail image of the static paused image around the screen. I'm a new TiVo user. No user manual provided with device or online (the previous generation manual for the Premiere model online at TiVo.com suffices). Two remote tricks that took me some digging to find out. Zoom button (when in menus) is how you quickly exit the menu... Need more appointment... ? Fast! What a Great DVR I decided to sell my Premiere XL and upgrade to Roamio Pro. Having 6 tuners avoids recording conflicts and allows me to get more out of my cable subscription. The UI is fast and much improved, but many setup and ip streaming menus are still SD. When it switches down to SD, it is not great, but usually it is a short and rare occurrence. Tivo UI engineers should address this as soon as streaming outside the home is complete! I am only giving 4 stars due to incomplete HD menus, incomplete streaming to my iPad/iphone outside of my LAN.
