Hi there. ^^ I have been looking around your RP blogs for some time now and I can't help but wonder, why did you choose to join the Digimon RP groups you are in now? Sorry for the sudden question, it just make me kinda curious!
Ahah, that’s one specific question there… I mean, “why", you ask? Do I need a clear reason? …I don’t really see why you’d want to know, but there’s no harm in answering I suppose.
Well… I’ll start with DTA first; the group I’ve got my Takuya muse in. I’ve joined this group some months ago, probably some time around November of last year. I remember seeing this group for some time already back then but joining them never actually crossed my mind. Back then I was just an indie Kouji roleplayer. I knew some of the group’s mods and members (I don’t know them all personally; most are just by name). But I never actually joined until a friend of mine managed to coax me into it.
I was a little hesitant at first, I think, because I wasn’t too keen on roleplaying anyone besides Kouji, and his position was taken at the time. I thought I’d just stay independent, but then Takuya was the next option that came to mind; I’ll admit I simply thought of it out of a whim. But later on I warmed up to the idea of trying to roleplay as Takuya, just to test things out; if it worked out somehow, I’d stay, and if not, I’ll just scrap the idea. Plus the fact that there were some pretty in-character roleplayers there (at least from what I’ve seen judging by their threads) only made me want to join even more. So… yeah, you can guess how that went, heh.
DTA was fairly active back then, but I guess after the past mods left/disappeared, things became a lot quieter now. I know things like these won’t last for long, but it doesn’t stop me from missing a special few roleplayers from there. And I still wish a good Kouji roleplayer would just pop out of the blue.
And more recently, I’ve joined the digimonadventurerp group. Okay, I’ll be honest here. I thought a lot of members from that group were really childish and ooc, and I still do. Sometimes I even cringe when certain members’ posts makes their way into my dashboard, though I often just try to ignore those. I won’t lie, I’m a complete asshole when it comes to characterization. But I also say “let sleeping dogs lie", because the pacifist in me tells me so. So I just shrug and move on.
However there were a few certain members that caught my eye. And after talking with them a little (ooc, of course), I don’t think they’re bad people at all. Sure, their roleplaying can get out of hand a lot, and all the crack that comes up really gets to me — I won’t even touch the subject about writing styles, but talking to them one-on-one made me sort of see them in a different light, y’know?
So you’re probably asking, “why the hell would I join a group I dislike?" Well… I’m still not sure of that, but it’s just my intuition. You may or may not agree with my reasoning, but I’ll say it anyway. Firstly; I did it for friends. I finally decided to try and interact with a few more roleplayers of the Digimon fandom (as much I abhor a majority of the fandom). Hypocritical, isn’t it? Well. Secondly; I kinda hoped to be some sort of influence of them. Now I’m not saying I want to dictate whatever I think they’re “supposed" to do, but at least in some way I could be of help when it came down to characterization or language/writing problems. (Though so far I don’t think I’ve been too helpful on that.) Thirdly… I know I’ll probably sound like a total asshole for this, but FFS if I saw another Kiriha roleplayer who didn’t even have a single fucking clue to what they’re doing I swore I would’ve snapped everything in sight; god forbid I’d want them to ruin Kiriha’s character for me any further, the fandom does that enough already. …Oops. There goes my domineering side again.
Haha… okay. I hope you’re satisfied with that; and sorry for the rant-ish answers.
