Michele Shares Her Experience with Dignity Therapy at Hospice Buffalo
Dignity Therapy (DT) is a brief therapeutic intervention in which a therapist interviews terminally ill patients regarding their sense of meaning in life, personal philosophies, words of wisdom, important messages for loved ones, and the highlights of their lives. The interview is audio recorded and turned into a written legacy document to be bequeathed to family members.
Research has demonstrated this approach is helpful in developing meaning and comfort for both patients and their families.
