A Dimanche Chic Fashion Party Review
Dimanche Chic Literally translates to Stylish Sunday, a name very fitting for the event and even more clever given the persona of the founder, Akmann Van-Mary. For those who live in Orlando, If you don't know him by name then surely you know him by the tall, meticulously dressed gentleman attending many of the events in town. One might ask what is a fashion party anyway and why does it belong in Orlando? Especially when it's not uncommon to see guys wearing bedazzled tee shirts, true religion jeans and possibly (dare I say it) flip-flops as their Saturday night attire. Just to clarify, a fashion party is where trendsetters, designers, boutiques and stylists come together in the name of fashion.
The party was held upon the roof top pool of the Grand Bohemian Hotel where the freshness of the white cement and white furniture was a perfect backdrop for the early evening event. The 4-8 pm time of the event was absolutely fitting for fresh pictures and an amazing sunset and mentally I was able to escape from our city and dive into an oasis of people who all have a passion for fashion as well. I was equally pleased with the passed hours devours that were served although I never made it to the buffet spread that was also made available to the guests. The entire event had a very classy feel.
While to be perfectly honest, I could not stay for the entire party I did enjoy what I saw while I was there. Of course the main event for me is always the men's fashion and I missed it! From what I saw, Current did a great job representing the fun brand the Winter Park Men's store has to offer. I was equally surprised at how unostentatious the guests were. I truly enjoyed the run-ins with strangers as each person asked about a particular fashion piece showing that not only were these party goers beautifully presented on the outside, they were equally beautiful on the inside. This drastically changes an experience from pretentious to fun.
In short, Dimanche Chic was a beautiful and fashionable Sunday Funday with better food and better ambiance than most. I am elated to have an event of this caliber take place in our city as my hopes are to elevate the style and beauty our citizens adorn themselves with. I would like to congratulate my good friend Mr. Van-Mary on his event as it not only celebrates fashion but also raises money for a charitable cause; this month's noble charity was Global Paint. My recommendation for this event is to not miss the next one, buy your tickets online as to avoid any confusion at the door and do come stylishly dressed. If you are confused in any way about what stylishly dressed means, don't wait until you arrive to find out. Call your stylist!
