( headcanon ) --- not gonna lie, this is totally inspired by this picture, but i love the idea that some parts of the being’s skin have a slightly different hue than others. obviously, it’s not a hugely blatant thing with patchwork bits of skin stitched willy-nilly all over ( i’m glaring at you, every shitty hollywood film that’s given the being 297439724 stitches on his face ), but the skin that’s on his head / neck isn’t necessarily the same that’s on his right hand, just like the skin that’s on his right hand isn’t necessarily the same skin that’s on his left leg, and so on and so forth. for the most part, frankenstein kept the stitching to a minimum, but it was impossible to make one skin cover the entirety of an eight-foot-tall body. he had to stretch it dangerously thin to even get it to work in any capacity, which is why it’s thin enough, as described in the book, to see the veins and muscles underneath. overall, the skin is a dark yellowy-brown, but certain parts may be paler or darker than others, as you see with the hands in that image ( one is slightly redder, one is paler ). he’s insecure about it. don’t bring it up to him.
