They really don't do anything by accident on Breaking Bad. We thought Vince Gilligan gave away the ending on a recent podcast, but the Dimple Pinch was there all along.

The creator, of course, had to add some insight on that order of "Dimple Pinch, neat." He explained the scotch was used because it's a favorite of his girlfriend's father before lamenting that Walt left it unfinished.
"Even though Walter had to disappear, I don't know why he didn't bring it. As the scene was written, I envision that was Walt's first drink in six months and he was going to enjoy one last one before the cops come. But then fate intervenes."
