Day 01 | 100 Days Project This first entry and colourscheme is inspired by Gerard Unger, a Dutch typographer and graphic designer. He used similar colours on the famous book called Wie man’s liest or While you are reading. Ligatures in typography are an important feature of well-made typefaces. Rather than placing i.e. f i or f f as single letters next to each other, a special character is created that combines the two—avoiding awkward gaps or characters interfering with each other. They ensure better legibility and flow for the reader. Needless to say, there are really nicely made examples.
ABC Whyte (fi) is used in this first entry and is created by the fantastic Swiss Dinamo Type foundry.
In this project I'll explore typography, colours, form, shape in a quick morning exercise for 100 days (part of 100 Days Scotland project). Occasionally, I’ll add further nuggets of information for the chosen typography, foundry and colours.
