32. Hair Brushing

Shok brushed Dinassan’s hair. Because, ya know, Shok’s bald. The other way around would be a pointless exercise.

Dinassan sat at his dressing table, brush in one hand, a clump of his brown hair in the other. It seemed that every time he brushed the back, another part needed the brushes attention. He sighed as he continued the best he could.

“Are you just going to stand there and watch?” Dinassan asked, looking at Shokrakar who stood behind him, in the mirror.

“Of course, my lord.” Shokrakar grinned walking over to Dinassan.

“Hilarious.” Shokrakar too the brush from Dinassan’s hand.

He lifted Dinassan’s hair into his hand gently, then began to brush it. Gently running the bristles through each strand. Dinassan sat as still as he could, placing his trust in the giant Qunari not to pull at him, or try and rip his hair out. Shokrakar hummed quietly as he brushed, moving onto a different section.

“You’re good at brushing hair…for someone who has none.” Shokrakar couldn’t tell if Dinassan was being serious or joking sometimes, but he laughed anyway.

“I have two younger sisters. They liked when I brushed their hair, I can style it too. But, for now, we’ll stick to brushing.”

“I didn’t know you had sisters?” Dinassan used the mirror to look at Shokrakar’s expression, serious, hard, it never seemed to change.

“Hmmm, two sisters and six brothers. Ten of us in one tiny hut.” Shokrakar lat Dinassan’s hair fall softly from his hand, then brushed downwards, making sure it was straight and he got every piece. “There you go, all done.” He handed the brush back to Dinassan with a smile.

“Thanks, Shok.”

“Anytime.”
