Dining with the Devil
It is Nairobi in June. The air is dump with fog us dark clouds not yet pregnant with rain hover in the skies as if daring one to step out without an umbrella in hand or sweater over thy shoulders. The Devil is on a one day vacation from the heat and…

Dining with the Devil (Closed RP)
God Darcy loved Saturdays. It was the perfect day. Friday, she had to work, cramped in a tiny lab. Sunday she had to work the next day, cramped in a tiny lab. Saturday was the perfect balance when she could be fully committed to partying. Unfortunately, Jane was at home buried in science, and she was partying alone. Buzzing with a couple pre-drinks and lips covered in her reddest red, she pushed through the crowd in a bar she'd never been to. If there was one thing to be said for New York, there was no shortage of places to drink. It had a been a bit of a culture shock, packing up in New Mexico and shipping off to the Big Apple, and sometimes it still took a bit of adjusting. Puente Antiguo had, like, one dirty diner and one dirtier pub. She could probably go to a different place every night of the week here and still barely make a dent. Hitting the bar, she ordered an overpriced girly martini because why the hell not, and perched on a stool, looking around the room for any potential partymates. She wasn't the one night stand type, typically, but that didn't mean she couldn't find someone to have fun with. Drinking alone was, well, lonely, and it would be infinitely better with a buddy, and if he happened to be easy on the eyes well that was just a plus. As she scanned the room, though, she felt a prickle on the back of her neck. She wasn't even sure what had caused it until she caught sight of him. It couldn't be. No. That was ridiculous. He was sitting half in shadow and looking away from her, so she couldn't even properly see his face. Her brain was playing tricks on her, definitely, but no matter how much she insisted to herself her mind flashed back to footage and profiles and security briefings, and how many people could possibly have that angled aristocratic bearing? But it was New York, there were tons of rich snobs around, and it couldn't possibly be him, but she couldn't shake it. She couldn't stop staring at him like she was begging him to turn around so she could see his face, and at the same time praying he didn't because this drink tasted like grapefruit and she wouldn't have time for another one if she was running like hell.
