As part of a fashion art magazine, I was one of the artists who volunteered. The WoW zone I was assigned was Duskwood, and these are the three designs I created for it!

It was a shame in Classic that the feral Trolls, who worship animal gods and transform into beasts at every turn, weren’t given Druids simply for not being hippies about it. While that was rectified later, the new lore was quite particular & didn’t factor in Zandalari who dance around it with Haruspexs & Dinomancers.

Luckily Blizzard has decided to not be muddle headed with technicalities. While their particular lore isn’t yet known, I’m crossing my fingers that since they can turn into raptors: the shape shifting Dinomancers we’ve seen are going to be involved somehow. Hopefully Blizzard will also remember Zandalari Free-Thinkers/Prelates and give Trolls access to Paladins as well.

Backstory

Rozulah was born to the priestly caste. Like many young Trolls, he was more prone to sportsmanship and feats of strength than academic study and droning recitation. In particular he enjoyed the wrestling of wild animals, including beasts many times his size. One day this cavalier behavior would catch up to him and he found himself ambushed by a tribe of raptors that would leave the youth at death’s door. There he would catch a glimpse of what awaited in the Shadowlands: darkness, coldness, eternity in a land of dust and despair.

Though the Troll’s natural regeneration and healing magic would see him make a full recovery, he was woefully frightened by the experience. He quickly resolved to do everything possible to avoid returning to that echo of existence. At first despairing in meditation for want of everlasting life, the thriving reverberations of nature would reach his soul. He learned of the Emerald Dream, the green realm of vibrant life where the Wild Gods make their home.

Thus the spiritual search for self-reliance would eventually lead to him adopting the path of the Druid: though just as he could not be the humble priest, so too is he not a Druid in service to Nature. Rozulah is on a ceaseless quest to increase his personal spiritual knowledge and power, to fight tooth and nail for a better afterlife, to become a “Loa of Life”. A quest with no end in sight in this life or the next.

Personality

The Zandalari Druid possesses little humility and even less compassion. He nurses a great disdain for almost every other race on the planet: holding grudges for the ancient crime of stealing Troll land. This disgust extends to the newfound allies in the Horde whom are often the subjects of mocking amusement. More hated than anyone however is the Darkspear Tribe whom he views as race traitors. Rozulah is quite glad Vol’Jin is dead and his rage burns white hot at the sight of any Darkspear.

Rozulah even holds contempt for many held sacred by Druid Orders. The Demigod Cenarious and his blatant favoritism toward Night Elves is a subject that invokes childlike pouting. Why were Trolls, faithful first and foremost to the Wild Gods, cast aside? It is death to Children of Cenarious, death to those he favors, death to any who are his allies. In fact, Life only for Rozulah!

Combat

Like many Trolls, Rozulah is fond of the savagery and power displayed in reptiles and saurians. This is easily reflected in druid practice with a fondness for cold-blooded companions and scaled transformations. He still prefers physical activities and can often be seen in the canopy using his curved staff to swing from branch to branch.

Despite appearances, preference is given toward ambushing enemies and assaulting them with spells from afar. While begetting no pathetic displays, he is still often the first to recognize a losing a fight and call for retreat (which is still downright cowardly by most Horde standards). If pressed into melee, his staff is used defensively to parry and trip opponents while waiting for a moment to escape.
