#dinosaur doll

Part of my exploration of various patterns to make to leave for people to find or to give away, it's cute but not super happy with it, good contender though.

R asked if she could have this old Volks body so I gave it to her. Then we got one of those robotic dinosaurs at the thrift store and she asked to make a "hybrid" (what she calls all my oddball dolls), so we spent some time ripping it apart and modding it to have a neck connector and sewing the fabric skin back on haha

She dressed her up and asked if I could get the tail off the dinosaur too. Of course I can 🥲

It's highly unusual for R to take any interest in a doll. I'm all 🥹

I am working on a dinosaur doll! She doesn’t have a name yet because I am making her as a gift for my brother’s girlfriend, it’s her favorite dinosaur! Bonus points if you can guess what it is!

This is her right now :)

She just has quilt batting on top of her armature at the moment, and the dark spots on her face are random bits of fiber I needle felted onto to her face that will give her soft round cheeks. She’ll have glass cabochon eyes hand-painted by me. I just finished making the pattern pieces for her skin.

This is the same way I made Laika and Mothra if anyone’s curious. I learned how to do it from this guide made by StorybookCreatures on deviantart.

This is what her armature looks like btw! It’s something completely new I’m trying out! Of course I took this before I added her tail (and head) but it looks just like her neck.
