Hairy-legged Vampire Bat Diphylla ecaudata
One of three extant species of vampire bats. It mainly feeds on the blood of wild birds, but can also feed both on domestic birds and humans. This vampire bat lives mainly in tropical and subtropical forestlands of South America, Central America, and southern Mexico.

just remembered that last year I suddenly decided to try giving Bat from my Aesop's Fable-inspired comic "The Birds, The Beasts, and the Bat" more of a furry/anthro design....since they're more of a metaphorical "sometimes they look like a person with a cape, sometimes they look like a normal-sized bat" type of character.
but as you can see what actually resulted was me drawing: 1) Their humie form 2) A bunch of Hairy-Legged Vampire Bats, and 3) Two little bats wearing little pants.

Decided to redesign some of my old Pony-characters as furrydragons...
Who remembers these three?
Made some references for the vamp dragons, and changed Diphylla’s design a bit. She was originally a mutated vampire fruit bat, so I decided to make her more bat-like...there was really no good reason for her to have a bird-beak, don’t know what I was thinking there :p
For those who don’t remember these guys...well there’s the tags, but in short there’s Enthrall. The white dragon. Originally a unicorn who found himself fascinated by vampires so he decided to seek one out and become one himself. His birthname was Nightingale but don’t ever use that name while he’s listening.
Nightsong. The more wolf-like dragon. Originally an earth pony and Enthrall’s older brother. The two didn’t really get along when they were younger, Nightsong was the more popular one and often looked down on his younger brother. Enthrall decided to go a bit overboard with his revenge for this childhood teasing and turned Nightsong into his vampire/werewolf slave.
Diphylla, the bat. Originally a mutated vampire fruit bat, and the one who originally turned Enthrall. She had the body of an adult pony, but the mind of a 5-year old (mostly because she was literally 5 years old.) As Enthrall’s “creator” she could easily take control of him if she wanted to, but she doesn’t because Enthrall has convinced her that they’re best friends and she sees the whole “taking over the world”-thing he’s doing as a fun game.
I don’t know if I’ll be keeping all of this lore as some of it was very specific to the pony-world, but we’ll see...
