my heart is absolutely broken into a million little pieces

Pat and I broke up on Monday but we are currently in isolation together in our one-bed flat because we both have Covid 

I’m going to move out and go home to Sheffield next week, luckily work have been amazing and have said I can work remotely there 

I’m just so gutted, we tried so so hard to make things work but 2020 has well and truly fucked things for the two of us and as hard as breaking up is, I think we’ve carried each other as far as we can through this absolute nightmare of a year

just feel so fragile and empty and heartbroken :-(

2019 has got off to such a flying start, my new job is so cool - the team is really nice and friendly, I have lots of responsibility and lots of different tasks to do that bring a lot of variety to each day. I get paid to WRITE which is what I have always wanted, and I have so much more free time outside of work - weekends off and evenings free to see Pat, who is also leaving his job in a week or two to find something more 9-5. we’re gonna be on the same schedule again so soon and I can’t wait!!

so Patrick and I moved in together!! we got the keys for the flat yesterday, spent the day moving stuff from his mum’s house to here, and then because I was off work today I’ve spent the day making it all a bit more homely, took a brave step up from artificial cacti and got us plant to take care of (wish us luck!!). very very excited to make the space our own, spend all the money we don’t have on homeware bits and bobs, and to spend all my time with my favourite person!! yipeee

This boy honestly makes me so happy, can’t put into words how much he means to me and how my life has got about a million times better since he was in it

I haven’t used Tumblr properly in the longest time, admittedly that’s partly because I’m busy with the final year of my degree at Oxford (can’t believe I’m 21 now and it’s six years since I first made my blog), but also because in my last relationship I got made feel really silly for still using Tumblr as an outlet to express myself. Him & his friends would stalk my blog and mock me for the kind of emotional things I posted. Unfortunately, I’ve made some uncomfortable realisations about my ex in the last couple of months, which have led me to realise that I deserve better and that I should do whatever the hell I want when it comes to my Tumblr.

Thankfully, I have a wonderful new boyfriend who happens to be my best friend, and we’re in that wonderful honeymoon period ATM where you can’t help but spend every waking moment with each other (and you can’t keep your hands off each other either). The next couple of months are definitely going to be tough in terms of striking a healthy balance; I’ve got a lot of work to do before finals, but I’m looking forward to what the next few months have in store. Patrick and I are gonna plan a trip to Budapest over Easter, we might go to Mexico later in the year when I finish my exams, and also we may end up living together here in Oxford after my tenancy ends in June!! Exciting times ahead - no idea what I’m gonna do with my life atm but I’m looking forward to exploring my options alongside someone who is the most supportive and lovely person I’ve ever met

your gal has only gone and landed an editorial role at an actual newspaper!! it’s mad how my career has come on leaps and bounds in the last year - from landing regular freelance work last december, to doing temp work with OK! magazine the past month, to now being audience editor at the sheffield star it’s really exciting that I’m finally on the right track to where I want to be!
