      WHY WAS HE HERE in the real world - in their slightly more peaceful reality? Shooting star feels nothing but   p a n i c   rising in the pit of her stomach from the mere sight of the fake Dipper, what had been his name, Dippy-fresh. It leaves a metallic sort of BITTERNESS on the teenager’s tongue, small hands clamping down hard over her ears. Thankfully, the real twin brother isn’t present or there might be trouble.

You can’t leave / this is your home now / you can’t escape / reality is lame / why would you want to leave?

Words echo in her mind, a shiver trailing up Mabel’s spine at the very thought that this is anything more than a   n i g h t m a r e. That has to be it, right?
