"I will teach you how to hunt, I will grant you the vision to mark prey, but in return, you are to bring me the magic you gather- I don't care to whom you delegate the work- If you think those savages in the Shatterpack are worth the risk of them destroying the supply, then you can stay in your ivory tower and grow fat on your greed and loathing- but if you skim from me, if you steal from me, our deal is null, understood? Play God all you wish- you and that hideous bride of yours- but I am the only God in this exchange- and your brush with power hinges entirely on my favor. Do not fuck this up."
Power corrupts- none know that better than Hanniger [WC] and Valentine [Imp], two self-styled 'Gods' from Plague territory who's loyalists infest various organizations around Sornieth with intention to harvest magic from Godfalls and magically adept dragons to present to their monarchy for favor. The Shatterpack, a group of Thronebreakers consisting largely of mirrors and aberrations are perhaps the collective with the most obvious ties to the so-called Ascended Palace, as their third-in-command Gamekeeper [Mirror] was raised into adulthood by the court's spymaster and alchemist, Deluge [Fathom F] and Dirge [Fathom M]. Blessed with The Sight like all who populate the Ascended Palace, Gamekeeper can track magic like heat signatures in the air with eyes that see nothing else- effectively blind to things that are magically null, but unavoidable death to those who's talents in the arcane are even slightly more substantial than average.
It's unclear what the king and queen intend to do with the magic brought back to their palace, or what their deal with a "God" truly entailed, but when your rulers dwell in a tower built of bone, someone has to provide the building blocks.
