The Strange Underwater World Of Jellyfish Captured by Dirk Weyer

Hamburg-based photographer Dirk Weyer reveals the mysterious world of jellyfish at the heart of the ocean with his mesmerizing photography series titled “Medusa”. Since the age of 8, when his father introduced him to the camera, Dirk has been passionately shooting beautiful images.

Weyer portrays radiantly illuminated jellyfish, engaged in an ethereal dance in a serene dark abyss, unlike the stormy nature commonly attributed to the oceans. People perceive the mysteries which lay at the heart of the deep seas as frightening however the artist has shown in “Medusa”  that beautiful floating creatures gently move through darkness with a peace that is otherworldly. The delicate and strikingly colorful bodies of jellyfish remind people that nature is both powerful and fragile and art has barely touched the surface of the secrets it holds.
