Distant Fires on CHRW 94.9 FM (September 30, 2013)
One thing I love about hosting a campus radio show is how spontaneous themes can emerge within artist names or song and album titles. This week I was training a new high school co-op student and asked him to select some a couple CDs at random to complement some of the music that I had previously prepared. From this, we unknowingly put together an early selection of songs that had drowning and breathing as a theme.
Weird Canada is a groundbreaking website that should already be daily required reading for any open-minded fan of Canadian music and I must credit some of their recent reviews for introducing me to Dirty Inputs, Lambs, and Child Actor this week. By playing them on Distant Fires today, it was my hope to further extend the sharing of their music with others.
