Image description: The first photo is one my partner took of me, a white, queer, person with Achondroplasia dwarfism, curly purple hair and a dark brown beard, wearing a purple turtleneck and necklaces. I am at a table with various sewing supplies and articles of clothing on it, in front of a projected powerpoint that reads "Workshop: Intro to Clothing Alteration with Elliot". The second photo is a huge group photo of all who attended this year's spring conference; an array of folk with various forms of dwarfism along with their family, medical professionals, and other community members. Lastly, the third photo is a group photo of Little People of Ontario's Activities and Advisory Council, (from left to right) Ashley Ramdhan (mint green dress, dark skin, black framed glasses, dark hair in a bob), Ryan Hadwen (average height, curly blond hair, thin framed glasses, wearing a grey and black suit), Violet Elliot (light skin with rosy cheeks and nose, long brown curly hair with bangs, black sweater and floral print jeans), Adam Telford (light skin, dark straight hair, beard, wearing a blue suit and black shirt), Francesca Azzarello (dark skin, dark brown hair in a bob, purple floral dress), myself, and Makayla Goodman (light skin, extra large black framed glasses, blond hair pulled back by an orange wrap, black tank top with visible floral tattoo, baggy jeans).
This year's spring conference for Little People of Ontario was such a success! I was so blessed to join the Activity and Advisory Council, and contribute this year with my Intro to Clothing Alteration workshop! I loved getting to facilitate such wonderful group discussions! With only an hour of time, I briefly covered the steps of moving a hem, accommodating for LP proportions, and how to alter clothing with a low budget and no machine access. I was ecstatic to receive so much interest and excitement surrounding this topic, and look forward to expanding on it with LPO in the future! (There has been talk of further workshops and video tutorials!)
