Disabilities
It does annoy me when people assume people with disabilities cannot do things others can. Or the only reason they don’t do certain things is because of their disability. Yes there are obstacles to work around, but the disability does not stop people living a good life.
In about a month, I will be starting a new job abroad that is associated with a ‘party lifestyle’ outside of work hours. My cousin works with a different company in a similar role. Now during a conversation with my dad, my auntie was saying how because I CANT participate in the ‘party life’, I will be ignored by my colleagues and not invited to do other things during our days off. This has really infuriated me. Yes I have limitations, but they do not stop me going out and having a good time. I can go out and have a good time like anyone else. I choose not to because it’s just not something I do. Not because I cannot do it. If I was into that lifestyle then I would be living it now anyway and I will not change who I am because I’m ‘expected to go out and get drunk every night’. Also I am not going out there for that lifestyle, I’m going out there because it’s my dream job. It’s bad enough when people who don’t know any better make assumptions, it’s even worse when family do it. Rant over.
