So apparently images of the disabled protesters being dragged out of the U.S. Capitol are going around because the extreme-left only cares about us if it can suit their agenda.
And I’m sorry; I have no pity for the protesters who are complaining about how they were treated.
What did you think was going to happen?
You would flaunt your disability and you would be allowed to protest freely when every other identity group would be dragged out?
It doesn’t work like that.
If you want to imitate great disability rights events like the 504 Sit-In or the Capitol Crawl or the Deaf President Now protests then you need to understand what those people were willing to do.
They were willing to get themselves arrested, they were willing to face ridicule and jail and even violence. They were willing to put themselves on the battlefield just like every other identity group trying to gain their civil rights. They were willing to take just as much as anyone else would.
Because they knew that you can’t have it both ways. You can’t demand to be equal to abled people, to have the same basic rights as them, and then demand special privileges because you’re disabled.
If you storm the US Capitol Building to demand to be treated like everyone else then you need to be prepared to be treated like everyone else.
For god’s sake, The freaking Powerpuff Girls made an episode about this.
