The gentle sound of another day passed. The once living girl seemingly followed around a young lady with tow-colored hair with lilac purple, matching that of her own. Sometimes she followed around the a young man that shared a face with that of the two.

Mostly she went unnoticed by everyone, but every once in a while, she’d be caught and would end up running in a different direction out of fear. Though, this time may be different if said young man doesn’t notice her.

Forrest had fretted for his cousin’s life, for he hadn’t heard any word of his whereabouts for a long while. He had steeled himself for somber news, if worst came to worst. Upon sighting him, alive and certainly breathing, he threw himself into Chrysanthos’s embrace. Tears welled and fell. At last, the gods had shown that they’d heeded one of his prayers; they had delivered his cousin to him, kept his life intact. After a moment, he withdrew, and fought to keep his trembling voice steady.

“I feared the worst, cousin. Thank the gods my fretting was in vain.”

“But . . . but what about Aunt Elise? She’s -- she’s not with you. Please, tell me she’s lagging  behind! Please. . . “

Selkie was her name —  energetic, boisterious, as well as affectionate. Hatsuyuki really didn’t have anything against her, but when Chrysanthos came running to him and blabbering about how Seiji seemed uninterested in him and instead found his eyes trailing to the blonde, Hatsuyuki could do nothing but look at Selkie a different way.
