My first assignments in the books! Based on a piece by Heather Galler, one of my favorite artists, we used oil pastel and water color (or crayon and water color for the kindergartners and 1st graders). It actually ends up being a bit of a science experience too, because we talk a lot about how oil and water not mixing leads to the texture of the piece.
