I got an idea

Story Idea:  What if everyone in the world started out female and when they were no longer able to carry a baby/produce a child in a women’s role, they physically shifted to male?

There would be the rare person who had some sort of condition that made them shift to male young in their life, the ones who had a few children and then shifted as they got older, the ones who were injured in some way and shifted after that, and the very rare matriarchs that never changed even in old age. 

I’m a little fuzzy on when the average to shift over would be since I want to avoid having the men all be way older than the women and I only just came up with the idea about five minutes ago.

How would the world look if it was run by people who had all (or most all) been women for at least part of their lives?  Would rape be rarer?  Would there be reproduction based discrimination?  Would there be people who purposely injured themselves/were injured by others in order to keep the population sustainable?  How big would the average age gap be between partners?  Would marriage still be a thing?  Would people leave their partners as they grew older? 

I think family units would be a lot more flexible.  I imagine most people would be accepting of both split family groups (my mom shifted so now I have half-siblings from her second partnership)  and couples that stayed together romantically with or without children.  I imagine that the matriarchs would be extremely respected and that romantic relationships between older people would be aspirations(tm) for most of the population.  I’m not sure how all the details would work out (hence the may questions above) but I’m already super attached to this idea that randomly occured to me as a what if.

I’d like to write a story where we follow a younger woman (probably early 20′s) that desperately wants to bear children but is panicking because she thinks she’s transitioning early and isn’t mentally ready.  Eventually there will be acceptance, whether or not she gets to bear her own children but it would take some time, thought, and effort.

right?!?! we can only assume she had too much time on her hands….well, that and she’s trying to figure out the hellhound thing….sadly the writers wanted to develop that relationship into something it shouldn’t be, but i think it’s safe to say there’s nothing to worry about in the long run, our girl is a genius after all ;)
