Some Diseases Spread By Factory Farms Discussion
Since factory farm animals live in such egregious conditions some of these products spread horrible or even deadly diseases. One common is called salmonella which you can get from raw egg and poultry. These diseases could be spread because someone got some cow manure bacteria in their beef burrito, meatballs, or burgers since cows and many other animals have been living in poop all their lives. The symptoms include diarrhea, fever and sever abdominal cramps that lasts for 12-72; hours and your bowel movement may be irregular for 3-4 days. Usually these infections aren’t to sever but in extreme cases if one has a weak immune system the fever and diarrhea can be so strong they can wind up in a hospital. Other diseases can be developed from salmonella such as Reiter’s syndrome which is a bacterial urinary infection. A couple symptoms of these include swelling and reddening of the joints, sores on palms, mouth and gentiles and iritis, which is inflammation of the iris of the eye. I’ll get into more anatomy and microbiological details in later a discussion. Another type of factory farm spread disease is E. coli. E. coli is a bacterial disease that creates a toxin that damages the lining of the small intestine creating regular to bloody diarrhea. This bacterial disease come from under cooked or contaminated beef or milk. This disease usually fades in a weak but can life threatening to someone with a weak immune system. Finally another very serious disease is cancer. Recent discoveries show that red meat products can cause breast, coleract and prostate cancer. The cause of cancer from meet is unknown but based on some studies a contributing factor is the amount of nitrogouse compounds in the red meat and how it’s undercooked. Another contributing factor may also be the antibiotics given to the animals that may increase an animal’s hormone level to grow bigger, making cells grow at a rapid rate.
