It’s their job to cause distraction, and Six likes to think they’re damn good at it. Almost offensively so. There is no way anyone in this restaurant will be able to look anywhere else, which hopefully will help the tourists sneak out of here before anyone is the wiser. She shoots up like a rocket and slams her hands on the table.

          The name on its own does leave a certain foul taste in his mouth   (  ❛  Eddie ❜     in  particular,   or  an  adjacent  too  similar ;   he  knows  it  was  short  for  ❛   Edward  ❜    ),   but he doesn’t let on.  People aren’t their names,  after all.  It’s inconsequential,  a joke.  Let it fall,  meaningless.

“Look? Nothing,” he said, “you just look different again. It’s always a little strange hearing the same voice come from different faces with all of those disguises of yours.”

As impressive as it was, Deacon’s chameleon like ability to shift his appearance was almost unsettling. It wasn’t something he was used to. It seemed like something out of a pre-war spy thriller. There was a lot about the Commonwealth that didn’t quite feel real after two centuries.
