❝  it’s raining.  ❞  perhaps,    were she of a more pleasant mind & not,    in fact,    soaked & damn near the edge of freezing,     the remark would have been made with a more humorous lilt.     but his observation proves true,    & the severe curve of her mouth only emphasizes the frustration that buds further with each passing second that she has to stand there on his doorstep.    of course,    she doesn’t wait for invitation,    instead pushing past steve into the foyer with as much familiarity as their friendship allows.
