Working on Fraggle Rock with Steve Whitmire as Wembley Fraggle. Now first working with Jim Henson, Jim was like no one on earth he had you do things just because it was fun, no other production company would ever do that. He would gather us together and say have you two ever worked tigether, you are now, have you ever taught before, you will now, have you two ever done the same puppet together, you will today, have you two ever swapped voices you will today. You can't even imagine how much fun that is. From a practical side when you are making a voice for a puppet, often times your voice will crack or loose strength and definition through emotion or in song. Which is why Steve and I worked together on both the Scientist in Dark Crystal and Wembley Fraggle, so that together we created the strongest performance there ever could be. the really neat thing about doing the voice in these few scenes is that it allowed Steve to fully concentrate on working the puppet, and you can truly see how talented he is with all the intricate movements he can do when not concerned with the lines. Add a helping hand second performer like me and Wembley can really play drums and sing. Jim often times jokes that Steve and I were two halves of the same brain and he wanted to put us through Dr. Bunson Honeydew 's machine and make us one person.
