Brothers || Sasuke and Hinata
She could still feel the warmth of his blood. The over powering smell of copper as it hit her face. His body going limp fresh in her mind. Hinata knew that losing comrades, fathers, mothers, brothers, was part of being a shinobi. That's why she willingly sacrificed herself. She knew that he was detrimental to winning the war. It was supposed to be her blood split.
Hinata stood in the training field. Her knuckles bloody and breath shallow. The tree she was standing in front of torn to bits. It had been weeks but she couldn't overcome this feeling. Guilt.
After the funeral, her father reappointed her as heiress of the Hyuugas. Explaining that her efforts in the war had shown her power as a leader. But without Neji beside her, she felt it was pointless. He was the only one deserving such a title. No one had felt the pain of the Hyuga power structure as devastatingly as him. Neji spent years, slowly dying, because of her power as heiress. How was she supposed to change this power when she, once again, profited over his pain?
Hinata could feel chakra approaching the training grounds. Ignoring it, she kicked the tree stub, causing it to fracture and split apart. Assuming it was someone simply passing by.
Since his death, she had very little alone time. Between the aftermath of the war, funerals, along Kiba and Shino dotting on her. The two were just trying to make sure she was okay. That she didn't blame herself. But she couldn't help but feel suffocated. As much as they tried, Hinata knew they couldn't understand.
She had brushed with death a few times. At one point this had given her strength, proof that she could fight through anything. Until the very end. Now she was left wondering if it was just some sick cosmic joke. Kept alive just to see a man who once tried to kill her, die for her.
Her palm pressed into what was let of the tree, demolishing what was left of it; splinters digging underneath her skin. "Fuck...," she mumbled under her breath. As much as she tried to move past it. To accept it. Every moment she was alone was filled with guilt. Another man died for her. Someone she loved.
Hinata began to move on to something else she could pummel, but noticed the presence of chakra still lingering behind her. She turned to see Sasuke resting next to a tree, he was watching her. Her cheeks turned bright red. "G... good afternoon, Sasuke-kun... do... do you need something?" Hinata stuttered, embarrassed the Uchiha caught her off guard.
