Of course, THEY are not one to talk; their own eyes were abnormal; CURSED even. But scars told stories; gave hints and insights into the lives that others lead. That was part of the reason that they hid their own. Unless it was to expose their own ABILITY; they certainly wouldn’t going about showing those ugly slashes and scars to just ANYONE.

                 But it’s hard to NOT notice ... and it’s hard NOT to ask.

                ‘ ... So what’s that SCAR on your eye, Hope - san ? Where’d you get that from ? ‘

It’s not often that the studio gets visitors, aside from the business kind. It’s especially rare for them to have an entire school class take a tour of the building. Henry’s a bit excited, for lack of a better term; kids are easy enough to get along with for the most part, if one knows how to handle them.

So, with a grin, he waves the group into the animation department, hums and says, “ --And this is where the MAGIC happens. ”

Classes were finally over for the day. The hallway began to slowly fill with students making their way towards the main exit, with some heading to their lockers first. Shuichi was doing the latter, currently placing some extra school stuff inside his locker. He had been excited about today, as he planned to visit the Jinbocho district in the Chiyoda area of Tokyo. Jinbocho was also known as the ‘book town’, so it naturally become a favorite area of the detective’s to visit every now and then. It had actually been a while since he last went, so he was sure some of the antique bookstores will have a lot of new selections, which he was excited to check out.

Shuichi had actually received a pretty nice pay from the client he helped on the latest case he completed, so for once: he’ll indulge himself and buy as many books as he wants. While he normally goes by himself, he was actually curious to see if Hope would be free to come along with him. It had been a while since they really spent time together, so this would be a nice way to do so, if she’ll be free.

Once he was done putting his stuff away, he closes up his bag and hoists it over his shoulder. He begins heading over to her locker, hoping she will be there. Seeing that she indeed was, he beams and continues making his way over there.

“Hope-san...!” He calls out, stopping before her with a small wave. “Hey there...! I ah, know this is sudden pretty sudden, but I was wondering if you were free to hang out today? It’s been a while since we did, and I would rally like to! I was going to head over to the Jinbocho district, if you’re familiar with that area...? It has a lot of old bookstores around there, and I was planning on visiting one. So I was curious if you may want to come along...? Of course, only if you’re free to and would like to. Maybe we can even visit a cafe or something afterwards, too: my treat...!”

Busy cleaning up. Of course that’s what he’s spending his time doing, here in Joey Drew Studios. It’s his JOB, after all. Even so, Wally Franks finds himself wishing he could be anywhere but here.

Especially when a pipe bursts and sprays ink everywhere. Including on him.

Of course there's the usual fresh-baked cookies, as well as a wooden case, large enough to store a couple books, as well as other smaller knick knacks if Shuichi so wanted. A special day for a special friend deserves a little something extra, after all!

“Oh, Hope-san, hello! It’s very nice to see you.” Seeing all the different things in her hands, his smile lights up as he first accepts the card and the cookies. “Ahh, thank you! I love having your cookies...” Picking one up, he takes a bite, humming happily. “So tasty as always, hehe... I know you made them for me, but happily have one as well if you’d like: thank you! Then when he takes a quick moment to read the card, he giggles, smile brightening even more. “I love this.. I’m definitely keeping it somewhere nice and safe.”

After putting the cookies and card down on the table, he then takes the wooden case, gasping curiously. “Ooo, what a nice case! Oh I can’t wait to put some stuff in here! Like some extra books and other things I’ve really wanted to put away... thank you! I love all of this.” Carefully putting the case down, he goes to give her a big hug. “I’ll take great care of the case, too!”

situations that require social interaction are a burden to mankind. yet sunny did not actively shun others; rather, they simply avoided him as if he were invisible. it's something he'd come to appreciate, for any extensive involvement in interactions with strangers usually ended up yielding nothing or being catastrophic in a select number of ways. and in a new town, there were many strangers--none of which acknowledged his existence. even so, his courage wavers daily; he should have objected to being enrolled in a public school again. ( you can't do anything right. )

on this particular day, he's fallen into a rather nasty trap. it was likely not set for him, but he'd fallen victim to it nonetheless. what a sharp sting a tripwire can leave... or perhaps he is simply sensitive. more likely the latter. he rubs his ankle soothingly, as if attempting to ward away the sharp pain that lingers in his leg. someone approaches, and he recalls the fact that he is out in public. ( you wish you could cease to exist on the spot. )

the person in question speaks quietly, but sunny still does not raise his head. he is deathly still, as if processing the fact someone would be considerate enough to ask him a simple question about his well-being. it is of no relevance to a stranger. sunny finally spurs into slow, cautious movement: he silently stumbles to his feet ( why does the line on your ankle still burn? weakling. ) and makes eye contact with the other. his one-eyed gaze bores into her like he is scanning her; it would not be an assumption far-off. a simple, short nod is the answer to her question.
