THIS JUST IN...

The situation is resolved with Distribber.  Complete refund on the way, faith is restored in them and Indie Go Go.  I chose Distribber because they do have a good track record but this project just fell through the cracks. Release date for the documentary coming soon.

I'm waiting. The clock is ticking.

There's been a flurry of emails back and forth today between myself and Distribber over the mismanaged release of my documentary....a process that normally takes 60-90 days now drawn out to 7 months.   My business partner in this venture thinks we've been scammed but both Distribber and its parent company Indie Go Go have done good things, they just dropped the ball on this one.  But today I found out that my issues with them have been known  "for weeks" to the owners of Indie Go Go. You would think they would want to resolve this so I'm perplexed here. Does it not concern them this makes them look bad?  Word of mouth is a powerful force and bad PR will haunt you forever.  Perhaps its because they realize I know they were charging me $300 more to submit to iTunes than a real approved and preferred aggregator (which they passed themselves off as).   It matters not.   They reneged on what they promised and when confronted with that they tried to lay blame on the encoding house and were slow to respond and only after hounding them. For the record, since this issue came up last week I have had excellent communication with the encoding house and what would have taken weeks with Distribber has been accomplished in 48 hours with Premiere Digital (encoding house). There is simply no defense for that.  This is my only recourse and the facts are indisputably in my favor.  It would be ill-advised if they want to delay things further.   Stay tuned.

Fuck you, Distribber

That pretty much sums up my experience with Distribber (an Indie Go Go company) who wasted 7 months of my time in their attempts at getting my documentary on iTunes, a process which should normally take 60-90 days.  

Since I learned they were not an approved or preferred iTunes aggregator  (middleman) I have been dealing Premiere Digital Services which is the encoding house where the digital files are prepped for delivery.  Their customer service is top-notch.  All Quality Control issues have been fixed and it should be on iTunes soon.  With Distribber I never saw but one Quality Control report and only after I inquired as to the delay, and they had it for 3 weeks before I knew anything about it.  

Now I'm in the process of getting a refund from Distribber.  The only upside to all this is we'll be saving several hundred dollars in upfront costs to deliver to iTunes.  Basically they were over-charging me for services and delivering nothing.

Let this be a warning to all film makers...Distribber = Defrauder.

That's how I feel after I got this response from an email I sent to iTunes feedback regarding the delay in getting my film on iTunes.

"Hello, Steve, I hope you're well. My name is Matt *******  and I manage the independent film business for the iTunes store. I was given your email about the unsatisfactory experience of delivering your film, and it made me quite disappointed, to say the least. We pride ourselves on having a platform that is very sensitive to the creative and business needs of filmmakers everywhere. Without belaboring this much more, let me tell you that the company Distribber is not (nor have they ever been) an approved or preferred iTunes aggregator. I will take this up with them on a separate chain. In the meantime, it does not appear your title has been delivered to us, so I would suggest working with one of the following truly approved iTunes aggregators I have listed below. Do let your pick know that I'm personally aware of your film. I'm sorry this experience has been so tedious and so disappointing, but again, I assure you that your experience is not how we do business."

Faith restored in Apple.  Fuck You Distribber.

Holy f*cking sh*t.

Those 3 words pretty accurately describe the last 4 days.  Tonight I find out my documentary "If These Walls Could Talk" has passed iTunes Quality Control.  Last Friday I learned of several minor issues  which needed to be corrected, which I did...all weekend.  And just as I was about to re-submit I find out it's ok.  I'm not sure what happened, I will find out more tomorrow.  

I was looking at the real possibility of not seeing it released until 2014, so now you understand the meaning to the headline.
