People say that Maxwell is more like his uncle than his own father. He had a rebellious streak in him at first, too, and it led him to stray from the path he needed to walk, but through the efforts of his mother and uncle, a stint at military school, and the death of his father, Maxwell has turned into a creature of duty and discipline. Today, he is a man bound by what's expected of him rather than what he really wants to do. He's prepared to make any sacrifice necessary to do right by his people and by his family but he is still unsure as to whether or not that should include serving House Bray's interests when it could lead to House Rovere's demise. Currently, at the advice of his mother, he is negotiating a betrothal between himself and Lilith Riesling, although the slow pace of negotiations can be attributed to his own reluctance towards the match.
