"Hold on!" Numbuh Two yelled, tugging at the controls of the S.C.A.M.P.E.R. with all his might. A particularly well-aimed shot from the villainous Delightful Children From Down The Lane had buckled the Kids Next Door’s getaway engines, and it wasn’t looking good.
"It’s gonna be a bumpy landing!" Numbuh Four shouted back to the copilots as a thick cloud of black smoke billowed past the windows of the Emergency Rescuemabob. "Brace yourselves, we’re going—"
Something hit the bottom of the craft, lurching it as the pressure was abruptly taken off the engines as they spluttered to a stop. There was a flash of pink and Numbuh Three, wrenching the door open to lean out over the edge and look, exclaimed:
"Diva Dynamite!"
A round of gasps issued from the squad of vigilante kids, followed by cheering as they met the ground with a gentle bump rather than the violent crash-landing they had feared. The blonde superheroine presented herself at the S.C.A.M.P.E.R. door with a blinding smile and a salute a moment later, not a hair out of place even though she had just stopped a school bus-sized airship careering through the sky at goodness knew what speed.
"Hey, you kids be careful where you’re driving this thing!" Diva Dynamite chirped, giving them a wink. "If I were you, I’d talk to DexLabs about getting those engines fixed up! A girl can’t be on patrol for out-of-control ships all the time!”
She gave a blinding smile before turning and vanishing in true superhero style, leaving the kids to let out the breaths they had been holding and laugh with each other and realise, slightly too late, that every single one of them had forgotten to ask for an autograph.
