So I did the ‘Diverse Sim Tag’ I rolled 22(crooked teeth) 7(un-natural hair colour) 23 ( a trait I’ve never used before) In the end this sim ended up looking very similar to my others (does this mean I fail?)
About your "Calling All Diverse Writers" post: Do you consider women a "minority or marginalised group"?
Since I’m a woman myself and so are the other two people I’m currently considering for full time contributors…. probably not in this context?
Women have of course been marginalised in many ways throughout history and still are in some countries or in some specific ways. In many cases it can be harder for women to break into the publishing industry for example but that doesn’t seem to be true of YA fiction.
To be honest, I’d probably ere on the side of no. We’re not a minority although we have been marginalised. We (as white/cis/het women) are not marginalised in the same way as a person of colour or someone who is LGBTQIA+.
We could however, come under the last box I put on that post, asking for others who may not be marginalised but who do not fit the tiny box society calls perfect?
Despite this, I would happily accept posts about the following for my diversity tag: - the objectification of women in some fiction- the trope that women can be cured of whatever is wrong by love - the problem of gratuitous rape- anything like that
If you have an idea for another kind of post please don’t hesitate to message me. I’m interested in hearing all kinds of viewpoints and, even if that isn’t a part of the diversity tag, I’d still love to hear what you have to say and will gladly consider it for the site.
