DRABBLE STARTERS ↳ ACCEPTING
Drabble where my muse surprises your muse with a cooked meal.
The plan was to make lunch for Shouto to show him how much he appreciated him. The girl’s had convinced Izuku that his boyfriend would really love the gesture and he’d gotten it in his head that he could do it. But, the fact remained, he had no idea what he was doing. The recipe was something simple. An American style dish of chicken and dumplings. It should have been so easy to do. The video had even made it seem like it’d be a walk in the park, but it wasn’t. It very much wasn’t. It was hell.
Within moments his kitchen had turned into a flour covered wasteland. There were even things on the ceiling, and he was sure his mother was going to kill him for breaking one of her favorite mixing spoons. He was about to just give up and order something when he heard a knock on the door. He panicked as he turned to look at the clock, sending the plate he’d managed to semi-put together, to the ground.
Shouto was supposed to be there at just that time, and of course, he was on time. Izuku felt the hotness on his face, a sure sign that tears were coming. He grabbed a towel to at least try to get some of the flour off his hands before making his way to the door. After the mess in the kitchen, the small apartment looked like heaven. Neat and clean, and nothing out of place. He took a deep breath as he opened the door, giving his boyfriend a sad smile.
“I… know what this looks like…” He hung his head to hide the tears pooling in the corner of his eyes. He had failed to make anything but a mess. His great plan to show Shouto what an amazing boyfriend he was had failed.
“You look like a mess. Did you get into a fight with a flour villain before I showed up?” Shouto’s voice made him gasp out a laugh before he looked up, marveling at the small smile gracing the other teen’s lips. “It doesn’t matter, I brought back up… just in case.” Shouto knew that Izuku couldn’t cook. Most of the class did, thanks to Bakugou and the little training camp. So honestly he shouldn’t have been surprised that Shouto showed up with a backup. “My sister prepped something… I’m not that great in the kitchen either.”
Izuku laughed and the two of them moved towards the mess in the kitchen. A glance between the two and Shouto was laughing as he rolled up his sleeves and started to help clean. Izuku might have flailed to make a meal for them, but the time spent cleaning had been even better than the romantic dinner.
