but yeah, you got me, i got a little confused what the heck happened in the final chapter :P i mean, i got the message that elsa dumped hans’ sorry ass at the end hahahaha but i’m really curious about the following:

1. why the sudden shift in writing style at the last chapter? i noticed that some of the grammar is a bit skewed and disoriented compared to the other four chapters. was that really done on purpose? (not to be rude or anything haha, i just noticed this and the format was completely consistent throughout said chapter)

2. i also admire the mirror-like (?) actions done by both characters in the last chapter as well but that kind of made me confused too. i was wondering what was really happening and it kiiind felt like we were watching their reflections. but yea, this feels really different but interesting nonetheless.

3. what’s with the bread metaphor? was that supposed to be about sex? or were they literally eating (each other out lmao) hahahahahaha

so yea, all in all this was a reeeeally great fanfic. can’t wait to read more helsa from you, girl!! ❤❤❤

The writing style change is a direct result of a) the last chapter being the one I wrote after coming back from hiatus; and b) the shift in tone in the story due to Hans’s feelings developing. Since returning from the break, I tried to actively weave together the more straightforward narrative present in the first few chapters (guy reunites with girl; guy wants girl; guy doesn’t know what girl is thinking, etc.) with abstract thoughts and reveries. The reason for this is not only that I wanted to experiment with my own writing style, but also because in the last chapter, I wanted to convey the idea that Hans had fallen in love with Elsa, and was losing his grip on what was really happening between them, versus what he thought and hoped/imagined was happening. This is based not only on my own experiences of falling in and out of love, but also on those of close friends and family -- when a relationship starts hot and heavy, we tend to get carried away in our feelings in the moment, and often lose sight of the forest for the trees, as it were. We don’t remember things clearly, and when we’re lost in that fog, we think that the other person reciprocates our feelings in the same way when they may not. In fact, part of what motivated me to write this story from Hans’s perspective in the first place - besides the male gaze aspect - was that I increasingly felt that women were always cast as the “emotional” and “irrational” actors in fiction and in reality, overthinking and over-analyzing and misreading cues from men. Of course, the truth is that these things go both ways, and we are all prey to seeing and hearing what we want to, and not what is really there.

This is both a call-back to the mirror imagery of the original Snow Queen story, as well as in the film itself. As we see the story only from Hans’s POV, he increasingly comes to believe that Elsa is a mirror image of himself, and projects his own insecurities and experiences onto her -- which is what makes her betrayal ultimately so devastating for him.

I am not sure what you meant here, but they were definitely meant to be having sex and/or performing sexual acts on one another throughout the story. (*ﾉ∀`*) Although as I mentioned in the notes post, this was really all about control and emotional manipulation in the end.
