The Heiress and The Ambassador

Adrienne doesn’t particularly understand Kylen’s disdain for the aristocracy of earth and the attention they give her. Every speech, every flash of a camera, every leering eye is another eye looking towards Kylen’s cause. All attention is good attention, right?

Adrienne was born into luxury and leisure, and has no desire to leave that life, despite condemning the actions of “the rich.” Because apparently feeling guilty about bad things you’ve done means you’re one of the good rich people and don’t have to give up any of your privileges!!

Kylen was also born into wealth, but it was never certain. And, eventually the scant security provided by that wealth vanished entirely. Money is of no use when your cultural centers are reduced to rubble, and clean water is now more valuable than any gemstone.

A ruler of refugees, Kylen has no patience for opulence and greed. To be made a gilded mockery of herself? To be a doll for Earth’s upper crust so that they’d bother looking her way? To tamp down her words so as to not offend the oligarchs? It’s her worst nightmare made manifest, but she would endure the humiliation to ensure aid for her people.

Doesn’t mean she has to smile at the paparazzi though.

Had a worm in my ear today telling me that I was making my fictional agriculture harvesting process and foods too complex and then I remembered chocolate exists and the worm died violently so I consider that a win

the worst part about developing a story that you've had for YEARS but that you've never POSTED about is that if you wanna host a Q&A nobody knows what you're talking about and they have no material to reference and only like five people know any details about the work whatsoever 😭😭😭

Divine Inheritance Yapping Because They've Taken Over My Brain

the most important part about making character interactions is about knowing who the character in question annoys the most and WHY, because that resentment will seep into most, if not all, of their interactions with the cast.

Like for Divine Inheritance:

Y'Shika makes Mariuc hella uncomfy at first because he feels like Y'Shika is intruding on his role as guardian and he doesn't know how to react to positive reinforcement from a parent-aged adult. Basically a whole bunch of "You're Not My Mom???????" moments

Mariuc also thinks Liam is incredibly immature and impulsive, so while they DO get closer over time, there's a bunch of slight annoyances when they first meet.

Y'Shika is pretty chill actually he doesn't resent the main cast for any reason

Mya and Mylo are constantly competing for attention and approval from their older brother and find each other's coping mechanisms SUPER grating. CONSTANTLY at each other's throats for no good reason. And also Siblings Be Like That.

Adrienne annoys tf out of everyone because she's the personification of the detached upper crust (and she's also just Like That), but she's ESPECIALLY irritating to Liam because Adrienne's simultaneously Liam's past come back to bite him, and exactly what Liam was expected to become in the future.

Kylen and Ama join the cast later on but they irritate the FUCK outta Adrienne when they do. They're not affected by power and influence in the way Adrienne is, and she feels guilty about it and that is NOT something she likes to feel.
