Experimenting with Service 2013 South RTC
This past Saturday, May 11, was the Spring Regional Training Conference. It took place at Cedar Creek High School, from nine in the morning to one in the afternoon. This year RTC motto was “Experiment with Service”. At RTC breakfast and lunch was served to the attendees. For breakfast we were served donuts, fruit, yogurt, coffee, and orange juice, then for lunch there was pasta, ice tea, water, cake, brownies, cookies, and fruit. Throughout the conference there were many LTGs from different districts and Chairpersons’. During the RTC introduction, the LTGs and Chairpersons’ went over different events coming up such as, ICON, Fall Rally, and Key Leader. Also this year’s district project was revealed to be the Eliminate Project.
As for workshops they were broken up into four sessions, the first being half an hour, and the rest being 25 minutes, the workshops that I had attended were General Member, Make Your Meetings Move/ Icebreakers, KEYping it Classy, and Major Emphasis/ Parts of Service. During these workshops I learned how to become a better member of Key Club, such as, keeping up with events and taking part of planning events even if I am not an officer or committee chair. Also I was informed of how to dress and behave when attending Key Club events as my actions and behavior represents Key Club as a whole. Lastly, I was able to familiarize myself with the organizations that Key Club is associated with, and their significance.
Overall the experience of RTC was a memorable one. I was able to meet new people, learn more about Key Club, and have fun as I did it.

Hey Cubs!
This is just a quick blog post just to remind you guys of something:
We are always here for you whether it is for Key Club, for schoolwork, or just to talk. And by “we,” I mean the officer & committee chair board. We aren’t just here to boss you guys around or to yell at you; we’re here to lead a group of 170 AMAZING students into helping around the community and basically changing the world. If we ever come off as cold or mean, I apologize for each and every member that made you feel like you were unwelcomed by us. Honestly, we’re just like you guys: we’re general members but with more responsibilities. I want you guys to know that if you ever have a question, if you ever need someone to help you with schoolwork, or just someone to listen to what you have to say, please, please, PLEASE don’t be afraid to contact me or any other board member. We’re here to serve YOU. You guys aren’t here to serve us.
You guys are all amazing and don’t ever think that you’re only a “number” or a “member” to me. I take the time to match your names to your faces so that I know who you are when you come up to me. It’s nice to see you guys smile whenever I remember your name. Just get to know us and I promise you that if you EVER felt left out or that you felt like we were “authority,” then you’ll change your mind.
We love you guys. Seriously. We don’t bite. :P
Yours in Caring, Service, Love, and most importantly, Friendship, Valerie Wong 2012-2013 EHTHS Key Club President
Props to all the officers last night for running around and taking control of the situation during our Induction Dinner! Probably a night we will never forget!
