So you know how I've been saying there's a weird tension between Thaisha and Bolaire?
I'd assume it had something to do with Hal, but I'm starting to think it was actually because of Thjazi (I mean there's always a bit that's about Hal but that's because it's these two).
Thimble was the main intermediary, but Thaisha said she delivered things without question for Thjazi before.
She's aware Bolaire is her baby daddy's best friend, and also aware Hal does not know this aspect of Bolaire.
She hasn't told Hal because presumably, Thjazi has told her not to and she trusts Thjazi has Hal's best interests at heart, but it makes her at least a bit uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, on the topic of intermediaries Thimble is too small for a mask, and Thjazi has picked someone whose possession and disappearance would hurt Hal and his kids. Not to mention a member of the Lloy family, one of the owners of Bolaire's wing.
So Bolaire is a little overly polite and comes off disingenuous as he tries to navigate her. She's cautious and gets a vibe that either he dislikes her or resents her knowing he's a smuggler.
While really he resents Thjazi very pointedly using someone so beloved by Hal and involving her in the dirty business he's (presumably) forced into.
Either it's a taunt, a test, or a safety measure and Bolaire resents all the reasons Thjazi would have for bringing her in.
