Show me your favorite under-appreciated fic; why do you wish it got more attention? I could do a whole series on this. I'm serious. I could point out nearly every fic that I loved and I felt that very few people loved them like I did. LOL
Even (most) of the stories I hate, I also love. Of course, I also just love to talk about my stories, the writing process, etc.
I know it says 1, but I'm doing at least 3 because I'm a tired teacher and I can do what I want. LOL
So here goes:
1. Between the Two of Us
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11255049/1/Between-the-Two-of-Us
Why do I wish it got more attention? Because I loved it. It's a Michandrea/Caryl fic, and I just enjoyed it, so I wanted more people to enjoy it with me. LOL I'm sorry, I'm kind of simple when it comes to these things. I loved it, and I wanted lots of people to love it with me.
2. Long Way 'Round
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10324700/1/Long-Way-Round
This is one that's been somewhat stalled for a bit. It's the second in a Dixonne/Cyreese series. I pretty much was on my own for a lot of these stories, LOL, but I really did love them. They just aren't wildly popular ships, so not tons of people read. Still, the world-building I was doing here was some of my favorite ever.
3. Region Thirty Three
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11473935/1/Region-Thirty-Three
This one is dark and hard to write sometimes, but I really, really felt excited to tell this story. Maybe I was just telling it at the wrong time, because it seems like stories that are being written now, which are like this one in some ways, are much more popular than this one. Maybe it was just ahead of its time. Still, I would have wanted more people to love it with me, again, simply because I loved it and was super excited about it when I started it.
I think that's what wanting a story to be appreciated always boils down to. You love it. You're excited about it. You want to share that with others.
Do you outline? Why or why not?
Yes and no.
Come on, now, you didn't think it was as simple as one word. LOL
I always have the rough start/finish and some in between kind of outlines so that I don't entirely lose my way from A to B. I know what I want the story to be. That being said, I don't usually plan out every chapter. However, there have been some stories that I have planned out chapter by chapter. Those tend to be shorter stories. I always outline nearly every chapter as I get closer to the end of a story, but that's to make sure that everything is organized, included, and executed in the way I want.
Still, there are some stories that just sort of "grow" and take on a life of their own. Wandering Home is one of those right now. I thought I was ending it, but I'm not so sure now, so I'm sitting on it until I really know what I feel like it needs to be for me to be satisfied.
Do you have any writing rituals you do before (or during when) you write?
I usually write on the weekends because I'm an insanely busy person. LOL. That means I usually do the whole make the coffee thing before I start writing.
I prefer to write in the morning.
I like to write on my computer, but I like to write on paper when I'm stuck.
I often like to reread the last chapter (if there is one), and I like to reread reviews and comments. These things give me inspiration to get going on more writing (or, if it's depressing, sometimes it sends me elsewhere, LOL).
I don't think I really have any other rituals that I know of.
Share a few sentences of what you’re currently working on?
I have quite a few things in my folder right now, so I'll just choose something at random.
She was coming out her shell now, little-by-little, and showing that there was a lot more to her than met the eye, but Merle figured she was still sweet enough and willing enough to go slow, that she could be a set of proverbial training wheels for his sweet, woman-shy, baby brother.
Merle just had to figure out how to get Daryl mounted up in the first place and trust her not to let him fall off and get hurt too badly.
Do you prefer writing dialogue, description, or some other part? Why?
Whether it's description or dialogue, there's literally no part of writing that I don't enjoy. I love to write, and I love writing all of it.
Thanks again, anon!
May Writing Challenge
So I’m working on my big crossover novel still, but to hold my prongsfoot muse over for a while I thought I’d give myself a writing challenge (since it looks like I won’t be going back to work in May).
1 fic per day for the month of May, any length, but must include the quote! Feel free to do the challenge with your OTP as well! Would love to see what others come up with.
1. “What the fuck were you thinking?”
2. “I need you.”
3. “Stop lying to me.”
4. “I don’t bite...unless you want me to.”
5. “Why do you think you have to do everything on your own?”
6. “You’re so hot when you’re angry.”
7. “How do I look?” “Like my next bad decision.”
8. “We’re in this together.”
9. “I’m the princess, I have the crown.”
10. “In my defense, I was left unsupervised.”
11. “How are you still standing?”
12. “What’s in it for me?”
13. “You can’t honestly tell me you thought that would work.”
14. “How could you say something like that to me?”
15. “I never wanted this for you.”
16. “He’s already three sheets to the wind. Let’s have a little fun.”
17. Silence/Free Day
18. “Let’s play a game.”
19. “What happened to ‘Us against the world?’ Was that just bullshit too?”
20. “God, just let me love you, you idiot!”
21. “That tasted funny.”
22. “Now say it like I’m actually supposed to believe it.”
23. “We’re like Romeo and Juliet.” “Fuck Romeo and Juliet. Why choose Romeo and Juliet when Rosalind and Orlando exist?”
24. “How much did we drink last night?”
25. “I’m gonna ask you something and I need an honest answer.”
26. “That whiskey has my name written all over it.”
27. “Do you trust me?”
28. “DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE!”
29. “Make me.”
30. “Last time we went out, I ended up in some random dude’s bed with you pulling splinters out of my ass. No.” “You can’t expect that to happen again, though.” “With you? Yes, yes I totally can.”
31. “You know what they say. Old habits die hard.”
“Other fans: Caryl! Donnie! Richonne! Me: ....Dixonne.”
I am still 100% there for Daryl and Michonne as a couple and as a team
