New tutorial is up. How to make a mould to enable poured water effect bases. Link: HERE
This morning I cast an odd tool from resin. I filled it till it was level with the top of the miniature base I put in there. Once cured I pop'ed it out giving me a bit of resin with a slope edged hole in the middle Now I can pop a base back in it and the only thing exposed it 0.5 to 1mm of the top edge. But why would I want this obtuse little tool? Well, when making my own bases, the thing that irritates me, is my inability to make a smooth vertical cut from the rim up. The kind you see in many GW textured bases, like in the photo of a stormcast here. Now I can pop my DIY bases into the socket, and with a emery board and a rectangular block of wood, I can sand it flush. Niche as hell. But this problem has been bugging me for 2 years now.
Hobby Streak D5:New resin I wanted to test arrived today. Will have to wait 24h for max strength so I can test drilling though it. If this cracks I'll go back to my other flavor that is more robust but more paint repellent.Glad my base casting idea panned out though! :)
