The follow up is this track that dropped like a bomb in certain music circles following a Boilerroom set by Buraka Som Sistema.
It's off course "Tarraxo Na Parede" by the guys in Dizona Crew from Setúbal, Portugal. It's very basic in structure and sound, with a slightly overdriven bass drum at low speed and a somewhat jangly percussion pattern, no synths or other instrument sounds, the melody is in the percussion and combining this Tarraxo beat (from then on referred to as Zouk Bass by internet bass music scenesters) with slowed down and timestretched Funk Carioca samples (I recognized from this track.. incidentaly mashed up by the same Deejay Kuimba)
In late October I had the pleasure of attending the Tribe/Offering party at Amsterdam's Supperclub and heard DJ Boddhisattva dropping Tarraxo na Parede sped up to house tempo again..
