sylus and his ravenous need to 'devour' ramble
i may be slightly insane for finding this romantic...but i am obsessed with the conversations online about the way sylus and mc constantly want to devour things; including each other.
all the complicated lore aside, at its core, it just feels so passionate and so viscerally romantic....and it keeps me up at night!!!!
like…. being attached to you with a red string and being part of the same constellation is not enough! i love you so much that i want to devour you so i can feel whole because every day i wake up and feel half-alive! like a wine glass that’s been half filled or a pair of shoes with no laces!
except maybe it’s more than that? because sylus is always starving. his kisses with mc feel a little more desperate with each new card, like he can’t stand to spend another moment being apart from her. touching her skin, her hair, her lips on his. it’s not enough. but it’s all their mortal bodies will allow. maybe the hunger for her keeps him up at night. burning through him like a fever. a wildfire in a forest.
and mc is the same. devour him. she’s not quite aware why just yet; but her soul burns for him. its other half. it’s the kind of passion that makes someone want to tear apart their skin and bones. shed their outer shell so they can be closer. please come closer. devour me, take me as i am, flaws and all.
just the whole idea of wanting to devour a powerful person because your greed can’t help it. that at the end of the day you can’t fight what your body wants. your brain will try to fight against it, trying to tell you that you don’t need it. that you can survive. but sylus has been alone for so long and despite his tenacity, eventually he won’t be able to fight against the dragon’s carnal desires. he loves power. mc is one of the strongest sources of power there is in deepspace. and that’s maybe one of the reasons as to why he’s so drawn to her. because love can sprout from that that greed of needing to survive, and she holds half of his soul, while he holds half of hers. and one needs to devour the other to be whole. and sylus is so in love he would just let the other half of his soul live inside of you if you ended up being the one to devour him, because at least he'll still get to be close to you.
