Twice-nominated grammy contender Morgan Page pounded the decks to the joy of all last Friday night at Sway.
To say it was sultry outside is like saying red light cameras are marginally corrupt, but I digress.
In like fashion, Sway’s house DJ, Corrupt, was getting the crowd ready for the show with his vibrant beats and bombastic personality. Everything was set for an enticing evening.
Sway has a new entrance, people. Don’t be fooled by the closing on Vine Street. The club is alive and prospering. Now you can enter through proper props on High Street. Making our way into the club, we were greeted by the bumping sound which was throbbing but not overwhelming, and shiny happy people.
The staff is always super professional. I can’t stress this enough. And this isn’t just sunshine up anyone’s body. Seriously. From the the door guys to the security to the bartenders to the greeters, every single individual is stellar in their performance towards the clientele. This is how great clubs are built.
You can say, “Oh, it’s Sway,” but with Prime Social Group, they are the only ones bringing in the big DJs while consistently creating a pleasurable club experience. Not to say many of the other venues I have frequented haven’t been great in NY, LA, Chi-Town, etc. but there is something about these folks that stands out to me. To find out more about their vision, catch the full-length Now It’s Dark feature interview with Josh and Petey, owners of Sway, BBR, The Garage, Mynt, etc., soon to be published. Yes, there is also a interview with Corrupt heading your way as well!
Also, a “sound” note for those of you who may not be “swayed” yet. I have been to top sound bars such as the Smart Bar, various warehouse parties and festivals that attempted to achieve audio greatness. I am not an aural expert but the sound at Sway is loud enough without me needing diffusers — And fully in the room without me needing to get too close to outputs. Quite an achievement and should be noted, as that acoustic quality definitely enhances the overall experience for the better.
DJ Corrupt, as usual, teased the crowd to the max before the show. This DJ, btw, has just released a new album, “Resonate” with seven sick tracks.
In addition to holding down home base at Sway, Corrupt has played with top artists like AC Slater, Starkillers, LMFAO, Will.I.Am, Asher Roth and is the official DJ for Ohio hip-hop artist Meechie Nelson. Arguably multifaceted, Corrupt possesses the ability to spin, remix and produce a variety of genres, specializing in EDM.
Corrupt is definitely known as a crowd pleaser. When he gets behind the turntables, he becomes a creative dynamo. Corrupt is identified as a DJ but also that artist who fires up the energy and vibe all around him.
When Morgan Page took the pulpit, the place exploded.
I blinked and it was packed. Page is a massive presence and when he began preaching from the decks the crowd was instantly wowed. People were singing his productions word for word.
For Page, it doesn’t matter where he is. His number one concern is sharing quality music. As an artist, DJ and songwriter, he continually offers a unique and undeniable perspective. No matter what, he delivers for the audience.
Quoting from his website, “Page has become a seismic presence at festivals such as Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Big Day Out, and many more worldwide events. In 2012, he was nominated by the IDMA’s in the “Best American DJ” category alongside Skrillex, Kaskade, and Deadmau5. Two Grammy Award nominations are credited to his name, and his 2011 full-length album, In The Air, debuted at #1 on Beatport’s “Top 100 Albums” Chart and #6 on Billboard’s Heatseeker’s Chart, while the single reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay Chart and resided in the Top 10 for a staggering 25 weeks. With all this along with sales figures that put him over 600,000 digital track sales and YouTube views that surpass 19 million, it’s no wonder the Wynn Las Vegas tapped him for a prestigious residency in 2012 and Sirius XM gave him his very own radio show—aptly titled “In The Air” (on its 162nd episode and counting.) Even with all of this, he shows absolutely no signs of stopping. As a veritable tastemaker, this trailblazer is now taking EDM to new places altogether.”
Obviously, very impressive — but Page has the chops, too. There is no fluff here, only magic, which is what the crowd received.
So much fun to be had — just like every time Sway lands great talent.
I was lucky enough to get a download card which I immediately used and am listening to now. Back in the day, we got CDs or mixed tapes. It still feels wonderful to get free music as a thank you for coming to the show.
Leave it to Sway and their conscientious team to diligently work toward making everything about your night out the best possible!
