DJ life

So in the ever long quest to find epic new songs I have hit a new mark in the DJ life. I just spent $2.50 on ONE song!!! I must be going crazy. Granted it is a really good song. But still dam talk about pay to play. lol Probably the last time that I use Beatport to buy music for a while. Back to HU and TID. :b

Music update!

So I am really pumped! I am finally going to get a copy of Propellerhead Reason. And not only that but Reason 9 that comes out on the 21st. So this means that I can finally get back at making music!! :D And not only that but I will be able to make said music without having to 100% rely on a band like I have had to before. BUT! It will still leave me the option to work with other people with real instruments as much as I see fit. 

It is gonna be a big investment but I feel like in the end it will be totally worth it in the long run I think.

SoI DJ’ed a party tonight

So one of my friends had me come out and DJ at a party for this dudes birthday. And I was out there, everything going great, and... one of my CDJ 1000 MK2′s took a fat shit on everything and died... So I then had to mob back home and get my controller to save the day. After that, we got everything solved and it was going great. Other than 2 of the other DJ’s not being able to play because they weren't prepared to work with the gear. But whatever... 

One of the DJ’s (who’s headlined at big real raves) went supper hard for 2 hours It was really cool. And then I killed it for a 2hr set. The other DJ also gave me hella tips to help me get better but in the same note said that he thought I was still doing really good!!! 

Then after everything was said and done hella peeps that were at the party said that I killed it and did a great job! Overall it was a snazzy event despite my CDJ dying.

DJ to do list

So since I did rather good at the open deck night I am 100% going to do the next one! But before that I need to get some stuff done. 

1. work on 30min open deck mix with only QUICK mixing used. This will be to show off my mad mixing skills to everyone better and get more songs into a shot set. This is also what other DJ’s to me to do for the next one

2.Finish my HHC mix 005 using all my mad skills and submit it to the mix contest to play at the S3RL show this summer

3. Continue practicing every day of the week for at least an hour.

Open deck night

So the open deck night went really good tonight!! 7 people came out to DJ. I was 4th of the 7 and it would great! I had the entire room dancing to everything I played. Also my USB stick with Rekordbox files and setting worked perfectly with no issues. It was supper cool though after I was finished playing people were all saying how much they loved my set. Beyond that my friend that came with me said that it was the best that he has ever seen me play before! :D I can’t wait till the next open deck night next month. 

Also I have offically met my personal goal of DJing at Studio 7 on the main stage. Even if it was for 20min in front of maybe 35 people. I gotta start somewhere and this is a huge step in the right direction to getting booked at real full shows.

New DJ booking!

So I am really happy! I got booked to DJ another birthday party. This one is also from someone that was at the last party I DJ’ed and they liked my style so much that they wanted me for their party. It is just weird though that they don’t want to pay for me to bring out lights. But whatever less stuff that I have to carry. :b

Frog date 2016

So far this year as a DJ I have been successful. I am also right on track for getting my new mix done by the Tuesday open deck night that I am going to try and play at! I will release the HHC mix 005 either that night or sometimes that week.
