Building small stands out of plywood with self designed 3D printed connectors for Mundane Monsters. Sometimes in wonder if I might have been happier as an engineer solving practical hands on problems with instead of the fragmented and propositional art projects i spend my time on. Probably i would find still myself in much the same situation, looking over the "fence" to other traditions and instutions, wondering if they might somehow provide the means of pursuing my interest. Wondering what is to be learned from other disciplines about the world and how to live in it. In this way it is difficult not to sometimes dream that there might be a discipline or context where all of my interests and all of what in want to do might fit. But in truth i don't think that such an ideal profession, context or tradition exists, but that its something that every one has fashion for oneself. Carving out a space where what "needs to be done" can be, by not caring too much about disciplines or tradion. Obtaining a bit of freedom to act on what is apparent to ones self, by not adhering to the norms of one field, but instead choosing to maintain a polygamous relationship to many fields and ways of thinking. There is so much joy to be found in choosing no field and so much adventure to be had by having a utilitarian approach to disciplines, as useful fictitious rather than guiding principles. Even if that might never lead to a sensible/coherent narrative of the slef or a sense of belonging to anywhere for very long. The group meet in the weekend to hack networks in far away countries dressed in crayfish costumes. It is made up of experienced computer engineers who use their knowledge and skills to break into various networks and systems located in distant countries. They do this as a form of protest or activism, or as part of a larger plot to take down a corporation or government. They have a unique style of working by disguising themselves in crayfish costumes, making it hard to trace their identity. They have years of experience in various areas of computer engineering such as software development, hardware design, or network engineering. They meet on a regular basis, such as weekly or monthly, to discuss industry developments, share knowledge and expertise, and work on collaborative projects.
