This is a brand new instrumental rock track written, produced, mixed and mastered by myself and my 9yr old son James. James Welding (aged 9) played all the guitars in this track, he played the whole solo in one take! We are working together on an album of his own songs, 'The Kingdom of Shredding', which will mainly be heavy metal tracks, with the exception of this little ditty! What do you think? Not bad for a 9yr old!
DJ Welly presents: Built From Scratch Volume 4 This is the 4th offering in my trilogy of studio based, scratch mix productions. It took a total of 4 months to compile and put together. Built From Scratch Volume 4 is my tribute to the world of the scratch DJ and the DJ's place in the 4 elements of Hip-Hop culture. It is an assault on the senses, insane in parts, and will take more than a few listens to truly take everything in. If you're into scratching this mix is for you! I approached Volume 4 with an old skool ethic, a throw back to the old 4 track recording days (albeit with an infinite amount of tracks at my disposal) taking samples from original funk, rock, soul, hip-hop and jazz records of the 60's, 70's 80's as well as more recent music. This mix, for the most part, is a series of 16bar left turns, built up on layers of breaks, bass lines and beats and topped with samples, sound effects and dialogue recorded from vinyl, TV, YouTube videos & DVD movies, all scratched into the mix via Serato Scratch Live, it even features my 8yr old son shredding his electric guitar in one of the sections! There is over 1400 samples in volume 4, all recorded into the mix from the turntables, a monumental effort! I poured my heart and soul into this project, and I'm really pleased with the end result.
