FALLEN AND SACRILEGIOUS WITHAL, holding the status of an archangel, mara is capable of weighing souls, a divine determination of fate, from at which point one’s worthiness of heaven or deserving of inferno is decided upon. through a simple share of touch or even so a lingering gaze and sometimes less, the “weight of your heart” will be known to her. though not incumbent of the onus before her banishment, after her fall & taking root at the midst of havoc within hope county, seeing it necessary in the stance she took, through her suggestion of it to rachel and thus to faith, she becomes the judger of souls to those on the path to eden, deciding the fates of the sisters and brothers on which of them will earn a place in promised heaven, and who won’t.
EMERGING AS THE AUTHORITY OF SOULS AND MORALITY, she is alike the breaking of the second seal, riding the fiery red horse of war, evoking a sense of blood that is to be spilled, the horseman that brings mass slaughter. even though she first did not fall as an enemy of the man but moreso the opposite, her sense of purity and justice revolves around protecting a particular specimen of people, thus leaving her rather grey in terms of both. in its true balance, sin lies heavy, and sinful souls are to be consigned forever to damnation, though some sins lie much lighter in the set of scales of an angel who has sinned herself, and some much heavier likewise. her judgement, accordingly, allows arguably little room for salvation, spared solely for the meek and unprotected, for the damaged and for those who had no chance of fighting fair. the rest of the congregants, however, ironically, are “sacrificed” with ease on both ends due to mara’s natural divine aura and rachel’s exceptional ability over wielding the bliss.
